LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) is an advanced laser vision correction procedure used to treat myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. The treatment reshapes the cornea to improve the way light is focused onto the retina, resulting in clearer vision.
During the procedure, a thin corneal flap is created and the underlying corneal tissue is precisely reshaped using an excimer laser. The flap is then repositioned, allowing for rapid healing and visual recovery.
Key benefits include:
Precise vision correction
Rapid visual recovery
Minimal discomfort
Reduced dependence on glasses and contact lenses
LASIK is one of the most established and effective refractive procedures, helping patients achieve long-lasting visual improvement and enhanced quality of life.
LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis) – Recovery and Travel Recommendations
After LASIK, most patients can return to work and normal daily activities within 1–2 days, depending on visual comfort. Temporary dryness, glare, halos, light sensitivity, or blurred vision may occur during the early recovery period. Eye rubbing, swimming, eye makeup, and dusty environments should be avoided for a short period after surgery.
Patients are advised to remain in the country for at least 2 days after surgery.
Air travel is usually possible after the first postoperative check-up, if the eyes are healing well.
For longer journeys exceeding 4–6 hours, patients should use lubricating drops frequently and follow the surgeon’s instructions.
The cost of the procedure may vary based on anesthesia type, sutures, additional tests, and hospital stay length.
