Dr. Artashes Arto Zilfyan is a highly experienced ophthalmologist, refractive and cataract surgeon, and professor with over 20 years of professional experience in advanced ophthalmic surgery and laser vision correction.

He is the Head of the Department of Ophthalmology at the National Institute of Health of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia and serves as a Consultant to the Minister of Health of Armenia in the field of ophthalmology. He is widely recognized as one of the leading specialists in refractive and cataract surgery in Armenia.

Dr. Zilfyan graduated from Yerevan State Medical University after M. Heratsi, where he also completed his clinical residency in ophthalmology. From 2002 to 2006, he worked as a research scientist at the university’s Scientific Research Institute, contributing to the advancement of ophthalmic science and microsurgical techniques.

Throughout his career, Dr. Zilfyan has completed numerous international training programs and master classes in refractive surgery, cataract surgery, excimer laser vision correction, keratoconus treatment, and corneal microsurgery in Germany, Italy, India, Austria, the Netherlands, Russia, and the United Kingdom.

His areas of specialization include:

• Refractive surgery (Femto-LASIK, PRK)

• Cataract surgery and phacoemulsification

• Keratoconus treatment and corneal cross-linking

• Phakic intraocular lens implantation

• Glaucoma microsurgery

• Minimally invasive ophthalmic surgery

Dr. Zilfyan is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS) and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). He is also the Founder and President of the Association of Young Ophthalmologists of Armenia.

He has organized and participated in numerous international ophthalmology conferences and is the author of more than 40 scientific publications in local and international medical journals.
